FRONT ROYAL, VA., August 2. - The corner-stone of the Front Royal Methodist Episcopal Church, now in course of erection here, was laid to-day by Unity Lodge, No. 146, A. F. and A. M., of this town. Thomas N. Davis, of Lynchburg, Va., grand master of the State, was present, and had charge of the obsequies. Lodges from many sections of the State were well represented, about 125 Masons participating in the ceremonies.

Peter Hoshour, Esq., of Woodstock Va., perhaps the oldest Mason in the State, was among those in the procession. After the corner-stone was laid, Rev. Dr. W. W. Tudor, of Richmond Va., delivered an oration to the large assemblage on the court-house green.

Among pastors from a distance there were present Rev. H. H. Sherman, of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Baltimore, Md. Rev. W. F. Locke, Mt. Vernon Methodist Church, Washington, D. C., and Rev. W. H. H. Joyce, Luray, Va.

When completed the local church will be one of the handsomest in the Valley of Virginia. It will be of stone, and it is estimated that it will cost about $18,000.
