Brethren of Unity Lodge No.146 A.F.&A.M.,
I trust this message finds each of you and your family well. As we approach the fall of the year I wanted to provide you an update on the many projects and improvements we have under taken.
First, we have made many improvements to the Temple. The interior has been repainted adding some color to certain walls. We have repaired many water leaks in the kitchen, restrooms, roof and mop closet. We have redecorated and displayed the other seven Presidents of the United States photographs in the lodge room. The carpets have been professionally cleaned, and the tile floors have been polished. Many ceiling tiles have been replaced and the flag pole painted with a new flag. The broken wooden box where aluminum cans are placed has been replaced. New brick entrance pillars with beautiful black granite inlays identifying our address and name have been built. Solar lighting will be placed atop each pillar and fencing will be installed. The old railroad ties have been replaced with new concrete parking stops. The lawn is well manicured and trimmed. Additional lighting has been added to illuminate the south parking area to include the grass area to serve as parking overflow.
Second, we have worked hard to improve our ritual. Many new brothers have learned new degree parts and lectures, they have returned their catechisms successfully, and our floor work has greatly improved. As we have seen many new brethren join us we have re-focused efforts on Masonic education featuring lodge educational talks and video presentations. We have enjoyed many great guest speakers presenting programs at our stated communications and at our Last Saturday Breakfast. We celebrated the 90th birthday of Worshipful Brother William Newton Wood with his family and friends. We hosted the Grand Masters official visit to District 3 and had a great time at our Table Lodge. The fellowship and outreach among the brethren has been tremendous.
Third, we have participated in many public ceremonies and community projects to include the Cornerstone Ceremony at the Front Royal 225th Anniversary at Town Hall. We were especially honored to have our brother’s and Front Royal Mayor and Vice Mayor participate in the ceremony with us. We qualified for The Seymour Jonas Levy Award. We will be cleaning up our Adopt-A-Highway on September 14th. Please come out to the District 3 picnic on Saturday, September 21st at the Middletown, VA Community Park from noon until 6:00 PM as this will also serve as our “Bring a Friend” program. “Toys for Tots” program is right around the corner as the holiday season is approaching us. Every human being has a claim upon your kind offices!
Lastly, there has been an increased interest in the Masonic Motorcycle Club International. We are waiting to hear back from the Grand Lodge of Virginia to confirm the information posted on their web site that the MMCI can operate in Virginia under the permission of the Grand Lodge bylaws and regulations. If you have an interest, please contact me.
As always Brethren, let us Meet on the Level, Act by the Plum and Part upon the Square. This is our Lodge….Your Lodge. Be the change you wish to see in the world….it all begins where you were first made a Mason. Until we meet again brethren, may the God of Peace and Love delight to dwell with and bless you.
S & F,
Dennis Mark Haas
Worshipful Master
