Message from the Order of the Eastern Star

Sisters and Brothers,

Our August meeting has since passed, and so has one of our main fund raiser events of the year. A big HUG and THANK YOU to all who made it a wonderful success. Our preliminary count for dinners sold and monies made toward our charities is a little over $1,800.00. Donations were also received from our out-of-town sisters and brothers who wanted to be part of our fund raiser. We would like to extend a very special THANK YOU to Wayne and Steven Ayers, the sons of Ginny and Rodney Ayers, for coming out so early on that Sunday morning to barbeque and pull the pork for the dinner that evening.

We have been asked by the Worshipful Master of the Civil War Lodge of Research to provide a luncheon on Saturday, October 5th at Unity Lodge. The menu for the luncheon is homemade soup, sandwiches, and desserts with coffee and ice tea. The cost will be $10.00 per person. At this writing, I do not have a head count, but hope to receive it soon.

On a serious note, we often find our lives are so busy with day to day things, that most of us do not take the time to give a call to a sister or brother who has not been able to attend our meetings or have been out of touch for health reasons. I have found that whenever you think you will visit, call, or write that sister or brother; that day has come too late. It is with this reasoning, I am forming a communication committee to assist in keeping in touch with all of our members. We will have a discussion on this new committee at our stated meeting in September.

Friendship night in October will soon be upon us. Please let the Chapter know if you would like to have your Star counterpart to attend.

A school of instruction is scheduled for Sunday, September 22nd at 3:00 pm., to practice for the official visit the following Saturday of the 28th. Our chapter has the opening for the official visit. Sister Maggie Yates, our instructor for District No. 19, is requesting that we review our ritual to ensure that we are doing our best. Professional Catering will be provided for the event. Come and Enjoy!

District 19 Official Visit will be held on Saturday, September 28th, 2013 at 2:00p.m., at the Masonic Temple in Front Royal. The address is 438 Skyline Vista Drive, Front Royal, Virginia, 22630.

Our next stated meeting will be held on Friday, September 6th at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by Sisters Sandra Engle and Marti Bruce, and Brother Charlie Bruce.
