Sisters and Brothers,
Thanksgiving will have passed and Christmas will soon be upon us. Most of us will start shopping for gifts, writing Christmas letters and cards; decorate the house with wreaths and lights and all of the hustle and bustle that comes along with the Christmas festivities. We know in our hearts that Christ is the reason for the season. Christmas is about our faith, hope and charity. Faith is when Christ was born, were most of the world can hope for peace and harmony. Charity, we give to those in need.

A special thanks to all members who have been so generous with their donations for C-CAP. We will transport the canned and dry goods to C-CAP after our meeting in December. In addition, please consider donating an unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots. The toy box will be collected by a representative of the Marine Corps in December.

Our most prestigious 72 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sister Margaret Yost O’Halloran went to be with our Lord on Thursday, November 20th, 2013. Sister Margaret was initiated on June 28th, 1935 into Martha Washington Chapter No. 42, OES in Alexandria, Virginia. Soon after her initiation, she was appointed a Star Point and from that day forward a Star was born! Sister Margaret never allowed anything to get in her way to attend her beloved Eastern Star meetings. One of many stories was told that when she was to attend a meeting, her husband, Tom, needed the car to go to work. What else is one to do, but to drive herself to her meeting on the family farm tractor? Sister Margaret joined Culpeper Chapter No. 79, OES on April 7, 1961. She served as Worthy Matron from 1965-1966 and 1969-1970. She devoted many years and love to our beautiful order and also served with grace and beauty as Star Points Adah, Ruth, Martha, and Electa and then was installed as Organist. Culpeper Chapter No. 79 OES later merged with Front Royal Chapter No. 6. The OES services were performed on Wednesday, November 27th. Thank you to all of our sisters and brother who came out to assist in our special service for our beloved sister.
We will have a school of instruction on December 6th at 6:00p.m. prior to our stated meeting at 7:30 p.m. A memorial will be conducted in memory of Sister Margaret Yost O’Halloran. Refreshments will be provided by all members who may bring in cookies or candies to be enjoyed by all!
God bless our Troops and keep them safe!!
