Master’s Message

Brethren of Unity Lodge No.146 A.F.&A.M.,

As we begin a New Year I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve as Master of Unity 146. I am honored for the trust and confidence you have in me. I will do my best to continue the success that Worshipful. Dennis Haas has instituted within the lodge.

I would like to share the 3 goals we want to achieve this year as a lodge. First, I believe it is important to learn the lectures for a number of reasons. By memorizing the lectures you will receive a better understanding of their meanings. The EA charge says of Masonry; “No institution was every raised on a better principle or more solid foundation: nor were ever more excellent rules and useful maxims laid down than are inculcated in the several Masonic lectures.”

Secondly, let us improve in our ritual work. By endeavoring to be the best at this important aspect of Masonry we will leave a deep in lasting impression on the candidates and to our visitors.

Finally, we should be constantly seeking to increase attendance at every degree and stated meeting. A comparison of the membership roster and actual attendance at these functions clearly shows that only a small percentage of members attend lodge regularly. For the brethren who have not attended recently – we miss you and would love to see you back in lodge. By attending lodge you will be assured of brotherly love and fellowship.

Masonry is a unique and fascinating fraternity. The ancient tenets of the institution have stood the test of time immemorial. As a member of this fraternity you should be proud to continue the sacred lessons and knowledge you have been afforded.

Let us remember our duties as Free and Accepted Masons, and may God continue to bless us all.

Sincerely & Fraternally,
Melton (Mick) J. Roland, Jr.
Worshipful Master
