Brethren,
This past month occasioned to have the Bowman Area Ritual School hosted once again at Unity Lodge to great success. This was an opportunity to have multiple Districts come together to exemplify the three degrees. Our District was tasked with exemplifying the Fellowcraft Degree. It is with some modesty that I say that in my opinion, District 3 was the stand out of the day. Except for our assigned Junior Deacon, who seemed to be the only person from our District which Brother Loki choose to correct to a great extent. However, to be honest, it was the only degree that I was able to watch since I was busy for most of the day in the kitchen. I did however have a fantastic seat to observe the degree since I was seated in the chair on the right of the Senior Warden in the West…. Anyway, that being said, we had a wonderful time with polishing our ritual, but more importantly fellowship with our brethren.
I do love the nuances of our ritual and enjoy the past manner of speech which is utilized. You will find me at the lodge on most Wednesdays polishing my ritual with the brothers and enjoy attending other lodges to see how they enact the ritual, however, it was no surprise to me that the best part of the Bowman school was spending the Saturday with my brothers and enjoying their company. You will notice that I always have a Bible verse attached to my emails, specifically Psalm 133:1; “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” I do this for multiple reasons. The obvious is that it is part of the ritual and specifically uses the name of our lodge, however the more important reason is that I truly believe that this is the foundation of our fraternity. I do not believe that it is a coincidence where this is used in our ritual, nor the importance placed on it. This is our foundation and everything is built upon it.
Remember my brethren, when I send out messages inviting you to the various programs and functions to support our lodge, it doesn’t matter if you know every word of the Master’s obligation, can quote the seven liberal arts or can distinguish between Doric and Ionic columns. What matters is that you give of your most precious commodity to your Brother. Your time. Please support your Lodge more than just financially. What we really desire is to dwell together in Unity, how good and pleasant it would be.
