Companions,
As a reminder, this Friday, December 20th is our stated convocation. We will have dinner at 6:30 in the social hall, remember it is a free will offering and all monies collected this year will go to our Grand Chapter charity, “Project Lifesaver.”
This month we will have a special program provided by Companion Charles Taggart. This program is very special and you will not want to miss it.
We will also be traveling to MAHOVA to visit the Memory Unit on Sunday, December 22nd. Our Grand Musician Companion Jeff Hedges and Past Grand High Priest Most Excellent Don McAndrews will be providing to them a Christmas Musical Performance. This is a very special time for these patients. “Research suggests that listening to or singing songs can provide emotional and behavioral benefits for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. Musical memories are often preserved in Alzheimer’s disease because key brain areas linked to musical memory are relatively undamaged by the disease” Mayo Clinic, Jonathan Graff-Radford, M.D. Please let me know if you are interested in attending and I will provide you with additional information?
On Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at 6:30 pm our District Deputy Grand High Priest, Right Excellent Jake Trenary will host our Grand High Priest Official Visit to District 15. The visit will be held at the Spurmont Lodge No. 98 in Strasburg, VA.
As Christmas is rapidly approaching, my wish is that each of you and your family reflect on the importance of this day. As Christians we commemorate the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, Emmanuel, Author of Our Salvation, and the Great, “I am.” Just a little more than two-thousand years ago, there was born in Bethlehem of Judaea one who laid aside the God-head, and assumed mortal flesh; one whose glory, worth and grace no language can express; one who was born that our lives might be purified, and who died that our souls might be redeemed from the penalty of sin. Let us strive, this Christmas season and always, to profit by the birth, life, death, resurrection, and ascension of that Divine Master, and remain his faithful servants unto death. Seeking strength to continue that struggle, let us always assume an attitude of prayer and seek His will.
I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.
May the Lord bless thee and keep thee; may the Lord make His face to shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee; may the Lord lift up His countenance upon thee and give thee peace.
In His Name, I am
Rt. Ex Dennis M. Haas, PDDGHP
High Priest, Hiram RAC No. 45
