Brethren,
First off I would like to thank you for electing me once again to serve as the Worshipful Master of Unity Lodge for another year. However, it is not just any year, this is our Lodges 150th Anniversary. For this I am especially honored. I hope that my officers and I can continue to provide programs and fellowship which will encourage you to attend our meeting and degrees in this upcoming year.
In speaking of our 150th Anniversary, our lodge has commissioned a label pin to be crafted to earmark this important milestone. Please see me at our next meeting and I will be happy to provide you with one.
We also had commemorative challenge coins to be struck as well. We have only commissioned 150 coins to be made, which will be individually numbered. The Lodge will be selling these coins for $10 a piece. If you wish to purchase a specifically numbered coin, please contact one of the officers and we will attempt to get that coin for you, but this will be on a first come first served basis.
I have also added a new section to out trestle board titled ”traveling man.” This section will inform you as to where I will be traveling to other Lodges and or events throughout the month. I encourage you all to travel with me so that we can show Unity’s support to the other area Lodges and as the weather becomes better in the upcoming year, outside of our District and beyond.
On a side note, I was all set to provide a presentation this month for Hiram No. 45, but was unable to give this to the Brothers. As a gift of the holidays I have attached my presentation for your reading pleasure. This is a very important story to my family, as it was written by my father, and your Brother, Thomas Taggart (Astor Lodge No. 505 Albia, IA). He was a pastor back in 1982 when he wrote this sermon retelling the Christmas story from the perspective of Joseph. While writing this sermon he was in a terrible automobile accident but came out of it with only minor injuries. It has always been our belief that he was spared because he had to finish this telling of the story which we all know so well.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
God Bless and Keep You,
Charles Taggart
