Luray Commandery No. 19

Sir Knights,

As many of you are aware, Luray Commandery No 19 submitted a request for a by-laws change requesting our stated Conclave meeting location be moved from Luray to the Front Royal Masonic Temple. This by-laws request was approved by our Right Eminent Grand Commander, SK Benjamin Franklin Hill on December 23, 2019 at our annual Joint District Christmas Observance Program. This is an annual event hosted by the District Deputy Grand Commander on the 3rd Monday in December at the Hotel Strasburg.

I am pleased to report we conducted our first stated Conclave on January 7th at our new Asylum. I am also pleased to report we have 5 new Sir Knights as of Saturday, January 25th. Let us extend a warm fraternal welcome to:

Sir Knight Charles Taggart
Sir Knight Bob Nickols
Sir Knight Scott Truax
Sir Knight Michael A. Huff
Sir Knight Daniel Fouse

Luray Commandery No 19 meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm, dinner served at 6:30 pm, all offerings go to support the Holy Land Pilgrimage Fund.

We will conduct 2020 annual elections at our March 3rd stated conclave. Remember our annual dues, $49.00, due by December 31, 2019 so if you haven’t paid your dues for 2020, you are considered in arrears. Please make contact with our Recorder, SK JD Davis soonest to make your payment so no additional actions take place.

Please mark your calendar and plan to attend, with your family and friends, our annual Easter Sunday Sunrise Service at the Luray Singing Tower. Arrival by 6:30 am and the service begins at 7:00 am. All mason and the public are encouraged to attend. This event has been a long standing tradition hosted by the Sir Knights of Luray Commandery for 60 years. We fully intend to keep this tradition alive.

Please make your hotel reservations early. If you can only make it for one day, Saturday is the day to target. Additional information will be made available on the Grand Commandery website.

As Sir Knights we are unique as we take a vow to support and defend the “Christian Religion.” Templar history and education is as important as the charities we support. We vow to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, bind up the wounds of the afflicted. We vow to inculcate charity and hospitality. Every Christian mason should be a Knight Templar. We support the Knight Templar Eye Foundation, we send ministers to the Holy Land….to walk where Jesus walked, and we invest in our youth through our educational foundation.

Our Shenandoah Valley DeMolay Chapter is steeped in Templar tradition. Named for the last Grand Master of Knights Templar, Jacque DeMolay in the year 1307. The Shenandoah Valley Knight Templar School is currently conducting weekly rehearsal on Sunday afternoons from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the Front Royal Masonic Temple. These rehearsals will continue through the end of March. The purpose for this is to provide the opportunity for Sir Knights that wish to become proficient and to receive a certificate of qualification as a dias officer; Commander, Generalissimo, or Captain General prior to their annual elections in March. The District Instructor conducts these sessions. Be proud of being a Sir Knight, be proud of being a Christian, be proud of being a mason. Learn all you can about our Templar ritual, history, and become educated. Become a student, ask questions, spend time with a mentor, then, and only then will you truly discover light.

Courteously,
In His Name, I Am,
SK Dennis M Haas,
PDDGC Commander,
Luray Commandery No 19
