Message from the Master

Brethren,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Brother Will Bryan for planning our Unity Pot Luck Dinner which was held at the Lodge on the 11th of January. This was an tremendous success and a fantastic night which all of the appendant bodies which use the Lodge were able to come together for a nice night of fellowship. The Sojourners also presented the Lodge with a beautifully framed print of the Toast to the Flag.

I have spoken to Brother Will and he plans to continue this pot luck dinner into his term as Master next year. I hope that this will become a tradition at Unity Lodge well into the future. I do believe that we should rename the event however. I think that it was best said by Brother Dennis Haas while we were speaking at the dinner. He referred to the pot luck as more of a family dinner. So with that in mind, I believe that the best name for the event will be the Unity Family Dinner.

Please remember that we are selling commemorative coins for our Lodge’s 150th Anniversary for $10 each. We only have a limited amount of coins left, so please contact any officer if you wish to purchase one.

Plan on attending the stated communication for the month of February, as we will be receiving the District Deputy Grand Master for his official visit to our Lodge. I have had the opportunity to see his presentation at the other Lodges in our District and it is worth coming to see it.

As I have previously spoken, we have partnered with the good people at Habitat for Humanity in fundraising for them and now they need our sweat and labor. We will be having some dates coming up in March where we will be assisting in building a new home for some less fortunate citizens of our community. As soon as I receive the specific dates I will send them out.

We will also be helping to pay down the school lunch debt through the Warren County Public Schools Service Program. As of the beginning of this month, the children of our community have a debt of over $3,400 for the current school year. I believe it is important that we relieve their families of this debt. I know that there have been many generous Brothers which have already began to make donations and we will continue to do so.

God Bless and Keep You,

Charles Taggart
