George Washington’s Revolutionary St. Patrick’s Day

George Washington’s troops endured a brutal winter in 1779-1780 at Morristown, New Jersey, where they received only one holiday – St. Patrick’s Day. With a significant number of Irish soldiers, Washington’s decision to grant them a day off showed solidarity with their heritage and was a much-needed morale booster during the American Revolution.

Upcoming Dates

In March, Unity 146 will host a Stated Communication on 03/03 at 7:30pm and provide a Thermal Shelter Dinner on 03/04 at 7pm, with a Community Builder’s Award presentation at 6:30pm. Other events include Blue Lodge Ritual Practices on 03/10, 03/24, and 03/31 at 6:30pm. Some events are marked as TBD or canceled.

Masonic Community Blood Program

80 units have been collected, which accounts for 64% of the total membership strength.

Public Announcement

The Governor of Virginia has mandated a limit of 10 attendees for meetings. Blue Lodge Meetings can be cancelled unless essential business needs to be addressed, and no balloting is permitted until the restriction is removed.

Thermal Shelter

Local organizations including Unity Lodge, On Cue, and the Virginia Beer Museum are collecting coats, sweat clothes, and socks for the less fortunate as the weather gets colder. Unity Lodge will also provide monthly meals for the Thermal Shelter, with the next meal scheduled for January 7th. Contact Bro. Will Bryan to assist.

Teddy Bear Fund

Unity Lodge No. 146 in Warren County aims to launch a Teddy Bear fund for First Responders. The fund will provide teddy bears to children in crisis, distributed by local law enforcement and firefighters. Donations can be made at the Lodge or by check. This initiative has seen success in neighboring Lodges.
