On April 17th at the 15th Street Field, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and our So Mote It Beef BBQ team will be co-hosting their very first ever youth football camp. This will be a free event to the youth of our community from 10am-4pm. Shenandoah University Football will be running the actual camp and putting the youth through drills. This also provides a local school an opportunity to headhunt and recruit talent from their own backyard. Former Redskins Darnaian McCants and Robert Henson will also be on hand to assist as well.
A silent auction will be held to raise money for our various charitable organizations, so if you have anything that you would like to donate, please contact Worshipful Brother Will Bryan. Currently we will have some signed Redskins memorabilia, Portable TV’s, a Golf bag from Elijah Craig and other golf related items.
This being the first year and not knowing fully what to expect as far as our youth turn out, if it is within the length of your cabletow, please let us know if you are able to assist at the event. I am sure Worshipful Brother Will Bryan can find a spot for you. Our So Mote It Beef BBQ team will be cooking hot dogs and burgers for the kids and parents alike and will have some amazing pulled pork as always. Our Royal Arch brothers will be raising money for this year’s Walk to END Alzheimer’s for both the north and south parts of our district. Please contact either Worshipful Brother Kevin Walek or Worshipful Brother Will Bryan if you wish to help at that table. C&C Frozen Treats will have their bus there and will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Lodge for our charities; so please support “Wild” Willy and have some delicious ice cream.
Finally, my brethren, if you know of any youth, coach or mentors please make them aware we have sign-up sheets for this event. A sign-up sheet can be emailed to you or you can pick up one at one of our fine sponsors: On-Cue, C&C Frozen Treats, Royal Family Bowling Center, Anthony’s Pizza, and the Virginia Beer Museum. Please support our local sponsors as they are supporting us. Event t-shirts will be for sale as well for $20.00 each, please let Worshipful Brother Will Bryan know if you would like to purchase one so he orders enough.
Finally, I would like to thank you all in advance and large thank you to Brother Mark Butler for his original idea and the faith in us to pull off this event. Thanks go to Brother Johnny Lovins for his help behind the scenes and especially to Worshipful Brother Will Bryan for without his tireless planning and work, this event would not be happening. This is the first of many community driven events that we can either conduct or participate in, so please let us have a great day of fellowship and community building. I personally cannot wait to see all the pictures and hear all the stories we will share together.
