Masonic Mission of Mercy: Brothers Deliver Valentine’s Feast to Seniors

On February 14th, 2023, love wasn’t just in the air – it was wafting from the kitchens of the Front Royal Masonic Lodge 146. That day, the Masons, led by Brothers Will Bryan and Jacob Witzen, donned their aprons and transformed their lodge into a culinary haven, whipping up a delicious Valentine’s Day lunch for the residents of the Warren County Senior Center.

But their act of kindness wasn’t a solo effort. Joining them were some dedicated members of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, including Sheriff Mark Butler and Lieutenant Terry Fritts. To keep the seniors occupied, Sheriff Butler, a talented musician, serenaded the seniors with his guitar, his heartfelt tunes filling the room with warmth and joy. It was a scene straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting: laughter mingling with the clinking of silverware, faces aglow with contentment, and music weaving its magic through the air.

Once the food was ready, the Masons and Sheriff’s officers started serving meals. And what comfort food it was! The Masons dished up a hearty spread of classic American fare, with juicy brisket, green beans, and golden corn taking center stage. But the true star of the show was the creamy mac and cheese, lovingly prepared by one of the Senior Center’s own staff members. Each bite was a testament to the combined effort, a delicious symbol of community coming together.

For the senior citizens of the Warren County Senior Center, this Valentine’s Day lunch wasn’t just about the delicious food or the charming entertainment. It was a tangible reminder that they were not forgotten, that they were loved and valued members of the community. The Masons, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Senior Center staff – all came together to show them that even on a cold winter day, their hearts could be filled with the warmth of human connection.

So, next time you see a Mason walking down the street, remember: their commitment to community goes far beyond the lodge walls. They are everyday heroes, spreading kindness and joy in ways that might just make your heart sing too. And who knows, you might just find yourself the recipient of their next act of masonic love.
