Unity Unwrapped: Masons Serve Meals and Merriment to Warren County Seniors

In a festive display of community spirit, Unity Masonic Lodge No. 146 orchestrated a memorable Christmas celebration at the Warren County Senior Center. Will Bryan and Lewis Moten, skilled Masons, prepared a delicious feast of ham and mixed vegetables in the lodge’s kitchen, setting the stage for a joyous day.

The Masons arrived at the senior center and were welcomed with open arms. Laughter echoed as almost every senior posed for photos with Santa, who some playfully insisted they were on the naughty list this year. A member of the Warren County Board of Supervisors added to the merriment by capturing moments with Santa.

Anthony Fisher, another dedicated Mason, arrived just in time for Santa’s sweet gesture—handing out candy canes to everyone, including the Masons. The surprise appearance of Sheriff Mark Butler, with his guitar in tow, added a musical touch to the festivities. Will Bryan took the microphone to praise Sheriff Butler’s community outreach programs, noting the positive impact on the senior center through their collaboration.

In an unexpected announcement, Sheriff Butler revealed his plan to return and coach the 4th annual Youth Football Camp—an inclusive initiative for girls and boys to learn valuable skills from professionals. The day continued with the much-anticipated gift-giving session, where Santa Claus distributed presents that brought joy to every senior present.

Sheriff Butler’s guitar strumming, beginning with a Lynyrd Skynyrd song, resonated with the seniors, creating a truly festive atmosphere. The gifts, ranging from snacks and lotions to toys and clothes, elicited smiles and gratitude. For some, the simple act of receiving a wrapped gift was a cherished moment that warmed their hearts.

As Santa bid farewell to the smiling seniors, Lieutenant Terry Fritts appeared, playfully expressing disappointment at missing the fun but radiating joy as he witnessed the festive occasion unfold. The day culminated with a heartwarming lunch served by the Masons, Sheriff’s Department staff, and Warren County Senior Center staff, all working together to provide warm trays filled with ham, biscuits, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, and mixed vegetables to approximately 35 grateful senior citizens.

The Masons not only shared a meal with the seniors but also engaged in conversations about Christmas lists, family, and daily life. The Mason’s Christmas celebration showcased the power of community collaboration, spreading joy and warmth during the holiday season for the seniors of Warren County.
