Unity Lodge No. 146 Supports House of Hope’s Empty Bowl Supper!

Following our breakfast gathering this past Saturday, several of our brothers—and even one of their wives—came together for a creative and charitable project inspired by one of our own. This activity was introduced by a brother who has proudly participated in the House of Hope’s Empty Bowl Supper for years. Guided by the core Masonic principles of charity, fellowship, and service to the community, we painted 12 ceramic bowls to support this meaningful fundraiser. The Empty Bowl Supper raises critical funds and awareness to assist men experiencing homelessness, aligning with our Masonic commitment to helping those in need.

The bowls featured a wonderful variety of colorful designs, including a rooster, a hen with eggs, a dog, a fox, an owl, two scenic mountain views, two mushroom homes, flowers, and a group of mushrooms. After painting, the bowls were delivered to Explore Art & Clay, where they will be glazed and fired in the kiln. This process will make the colors more vibrant and give the bowls a shiny, durable finish.

We’ve included photos of all 12 bowls below to showcase the creativity and effort that went into each one. Keep in mind, the colors will appear even brighter and richer after they’ve been fired!

This project reflects the Masonic value of building a better world, one act of kindness at a time. It also brought brothers together in fellowship and provided a fun opportunity to work toward a common goal. Plans are already in motion to expand the effort by involving seniors at the Warren County Senior Center and kids from the Rec Center in Luray to join in painting bowls for this important cause.

A big thank you to the brother who introduced us to this initiative and to everyone who participated. By combining creativity, charity, and camaraderie, we honor the Masonic tradition of serving the greater good.
