Fellowship, Food, and a Little Flintstone Fun at the Senior Center

On October 24, members of Unity Lodge No. 146 returned to the Warren County Senior Center for our monthly service lunch. Each month the lodge provides a hot meal and hand-delivers it table-to-table, taking time to talk with the seniors, swap stories, and share a little laughter along the way. This visit was no exception — and it came with a surprise dose of costume comedy.

We were joined this month by the Worthy Matron of the local Order of the Eastern Star, who arrived in full pirate attire to help call bingo. When we realized she was the only one dressed up, one of our Brothers sprinted to his car and returned moments later in a Fred Flintstone costume — complete with a Water Buffalo hat and tie — so she wouldn’t feel out of place.

As the Worthy Matron called out bingo numbers, “Fred” punctuated each winning card with a loud “Yabba Dabba Doo!”, turning the room into a blend of Stone Age humor and pure joy.

Lunch for the evening featured smoked chicken generously prepared by one of the Brothers, along with the rest of the lodge team running trays and drinks to each table from the kitchen. The conversations were as good as the meal — everything from family memories to hobbies to hometown history.

These monthly visits are a small gesture of care, but they consistently remind us why we do it: to serve, to connect, and to bring a little warmth and laughter to our neighbors. We look forward to returning again next month.
