Masons Join the Community at the Jack O’Lantern Jubilee

Unity Lodge No. 146 was proud to once again take part in the annual Jack O’Lantern Jubilee, held October at the Warren County Health & Human Services Complex from 6–8 PM. Each year, this family-friendly event is hosted by Warren County Department of Social Services in partnership with Warren County Parks & Recreation, bringing hundreds of families to the fully lit, paved running track for a safe — and free — evening of Halloween fun.

More than 50 local vendors and organizations lined the track handing out candy to children in costume. Among them were two of our Brothers: one arrived early to help with setup before having to leave for other business, and another came shortly afterward with his young son to help hand out candy and enjoy the festivities.

Our lodge’s booth stood out under a blue canopy tent, with the familiar Square & Compasses flag displayed proudly in front of the table. The decorations were fully in the spirit of the season — giant spiders, chains, skeleton bones, ghosts, and webs turned the space into a spooky little outpost on the track.

And of course — candy. Lots of candy. The Brethren came prepared with 40 pounds of root beer barrels to hand out to the long line of excited trick-or-treaters passing by.

Events like the Jack O’Lantern Jubilee are a reminder that Freemasonry is not only about ritual and tradition — it’s about being a visible, supportive part of the community we live in. We were grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a safe, joyful night for local families, and we look forward to being back next year.
