Walter C. Carter, a prominent orchardist and community leader, tragically died in a collision with a passenger train near Waterlick. In 1925, the Manufacturers Record Exponent of America mentioned a contract with L. I. Poe, Marshall, to remodel Unity Lodge, A. F. and A.M. building on Main Street for a temple, published in Baltimore, Maryland. This reference was on page 109, under the “Building Contracts Awarded” section. Read more

Contract to build brick temple
On September 10, 1925, the Manufacturers Record Exponent of America published details about a contract awarded to build a two-story brick temple for Unity Lodge, A. F. and A.M. The contract with Lewin Poe, Marshall, was for $10,500 to construct a 50×34 feet temple with a metal roof. Read more
