Chester Lodge No. 61 Watta B.
Chester Lodge No. 61’s history is elusive, but the Baltimore Sun uncovered a lead. In a 1905 letter to the Virginia Heraldry, W. M. W. sought information on the Walter, Shanks, Gardiner, Love, and Rovell families, connecting Walter “Watta B.” Bragg Walter to the lodge. The Grand Lodge of Virginia provided membership details. Jurisdictional Complaint
In 1903, a Virginia Mason faced a unique situation when he was expelled by a lodge in West Virginia for being a non-affiliate. However, he was later found to be a member of a Virginia lodge before the expulsion. The grand master expressed frustration at the situation, unable to resolve before his term ended. Read more
