Walter C. Carter Killed, Auto Is Struck by Train
Walter C. Carter, a prominent orchardist and community leader, tragically died in a collision with a passenger train near Waterlick. He was well-respected for his diverse business involvements and active participation in church and civic activities. Survived by his wife, two children, and siblings, funeral services were held in Front Royal. Read more

Unity Lodge Installs Officers

Front Royal’s “New Deal” program embodies cooperation and civic loyalty, closely tied to the town’s historical Fraternal organizations. Freemasonry has played a significant role since 1799, with Unity Lodge No. 146 still active, and the Order of the Eastern Star established in 1910. Masonic History of Front Royal
In 1899, the Grand Secretary of Masons of Virginia wrote to Geo. W. Forsyth regarding the history of Masonic Lodges in Front Royal. Chester Lodge and Front Royal Lodge were chartered in 1799 and 1816 respectively. Front Royal Lodge No. 102 was revived in 1840, and Unity Lodge, No. 146 was chartered in 1870. Read more
