Dr. Ernest Linwood Grubbs, a beloved physician in Front Royal, passed away at 90. He practiced for over 50 years, delivering 2,500-3,000 babies. In October 6, 1970, The Daily Courier reported Major Ronald G. McManus, a Unity Lodge member, was appointed as assistant to Randolph-Macon Academy’s president. He had served as commandant and chairman of the English department since 1963. The news was featured on page 4 of the newspaper. Read more

Fraternal Visit
On March 23, 1968, The Evening Sun reported the Past Masters’ night at Monocacy Lodge #203 in Union Bridge, Maryland, where the sublime degree of a Master Mason was conferred. Members from five lodges, including a visiting group from Virginia, attended the event. Read more

S. M. Boyd, Jr., Passes Away At Front Royal
Stephen Miller Boyd Jr. passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 6. He was an active member of the community, serving as chairman of the Warren County Electoral Board, among other roles. Graduating from Virginia Tech in 1916, he was also a veteran of World War I and heavily involved in local organizations. Read more

In the July 5, 1963 issue of The Hopewell News, it was reported that H. Douglas Hammer Jr., a member of Unity Lodge No. 146, became the City Manager in Hopewell after serving as Town Manager in Front Royal. He was also affiliated with the Hiram Royal Arch Chapter No. 45. Read more

A member of Unity Lodge No. 146 switched to Orr Lodge No. 104, under the Grand Lodge of North Carolina. Brother W. T. W. was properly demitted by Washington Lodge No. 78, Virginia, and Unity Lodge No. 146, Virginia, and duly elected to Orr Lodge No. 104 on September 1, 1959. Read more
